Our Story

Kathleen Flannery and the late Vincent Flannery had a dream to create a warm and welcoming home for those in need of care. They saw a gap in the market for a nursing home that was not just a place for residents to receive medical attention, but a true home where they could feel comfortable, secure, and loved. With this vision in mind, they founded Flannery's Nursing Home, a 60-bed facility in the picturesque village of Abbeyknockmoy, Tuam, County Galway.

Kathleen, with her nursing qualifications, had a passion for caregiving and loved nothing more than looking after her residents. She was always available to listen to their needs and offer support, and her warm and compassionate approach quickly made her a beloved member of the nursing home community. Vincent, on the other hand, was passionate about making his dream and vision a reality. He was always eager to help, whether it was perceiving and executing the idea of landscaping and building the nursing home itself to even fixing a broken door or lending a listening ear to one of the residents.

Together, Kathleen and Vincent created a warm and welcoming environment, filled with comfort and love. They carefully selected a team of dedicated and compassionate nurses and staff who shared their vision and commitment to providing the best possible care to their residents. With the help of their team, they created a welcoming home, with comfortable rooms, a beautiful garden, and a wide range of recreational and social activities to encourage residents to engage with each other, stay active, and enjoy their time in their new home.

Unfortunately, Vincent passed away, but Kathleen's commitment to the nursing home and its residents remained unwavering. She continued to lead the nursing home with the same passion and dedication, and her warm and compassionate approach remained a hallmark of the home. Flannery's Nursing Home became well-integrated into the village and employed many local residents, making it a valuable part of the community.

Kathleen was proud of what she and Vincent had accomplished and was grateful to the residents and staff who had become a part of her life. Her love and passion for caregiving would always be a testament to Vincent's memory, and Flannery's Nursing Home would always be a symbol of their commitment to helping others. Today, the nursing home continues to provide top-quality care to its residents, and its reputation as a warm and welcoming home has only grown stronger over the years.
